Reloading image from separate file on each Excel-sheet open

I do have a process in my computer that produces a status describing image in intervals. Each 5 seconds the new status check is done and the image on a disk is renewed.
In that very same directory there is an Excel-sheet that collects information from the computers various places (text and numbers) and that piece of information is presented as a spreadsheet.
I would very much like to place that status image on that spreadsheet too, but there is my snag. It's easy to place a image from a png-file to the spreadsheet, but how can I make it happen that it takes the very latest image version to be displayed. Is there a way to command that displayed image is reloaded from the file each time this excel is opened?

Do you try to use insert object and link to file?

That does not help. Inserting object from a file and checking the "link to the file" appears poorly. Instead of using the content of the object file, it prints the placeholder and name of the file. I want that picture contents visible.
