Extract parameters for Time-based One-time Password from Google Authenticator [closed]

I have gadget with installed Google Authenticator for 2FA on different services.

Google Authenticator uses Time-based One-time Password(TOTP) for this.

This protocol uses time + sync digits for creating one time password.

Time value is synchronized via ntp-protocol.

Sync digits gets Google Authenticator via QR-Code or manual entry.

I was a little bit dumb, and haven't made any extra screenshots of QR-Codes nor backup of sync digits.

If i buy new/loose/destroy my gadget it will be very painful to restore access to all 2FA services.

So how can i extract/export QR-code/Sync digits for TOTP protocol from Google Authenticator for backup or other 2FA software with TOTP?

  • You'll likely need to remove the 2fa from your account, providing at the removal page some additional detail indicating you are who you say you are. You can then re-apply 2fa and re-run the process on your new device. I've done something similar in the past with my Blizzard battle.net token, and it worked well.

  • It is not really helpful if you loses your phone. So creating backup of this data somewhere outside of my phone will be more useful.

Mobile phones are off topic here. As there is no indication of what type of phone is involved it is difficult to know whether this should be on Android Enthusiasts or Ask Different or Windows Phone

@Mokubai I think that you are wrong. Here I'm trying to get information about data extraction of one of the mos popular software for 2FA. I'm sure that I'm not the only person who would like to extract Data from Google Authenticator for backups/2FA token movement. I have not specified OS of mobile phone. GA also runs on other computers/Tablets/phones

  • Your final sentence (and title) specifically limits your question to phones running TOTP software. Edit your question to specify that you are looking to deal with Windows/Mac/Linux computers if you are looking for solutions on those platforms. Tablets based on smartphone operating systems are also off topic here.
