Chromium changed settings without my consent

0

I am using Chromium from Debian stable repo and noticed that since the last upgrade (70.0.3538.67) I had the option Help improve Safe Browsing enabled, whose purpose is to "Send some system information and page content to Google".

It disappointed me, because I had this option disabled before the upgrade and I frequently check settings for such changes. The browser profile is the same as was before the update. My questions are:

  • Is it normal practice for browsers?

  • Is there a command line argument
to force this option to remain disabled, so it could prevent such
    situations?
