I'm struggling to understand the concept behind polynomial estimation. I have applied an example to this method but still unsure on how or why the conclusion is reached. I'm applying the steps to example questions without understanding. I'm confused from the start of the second page on wards. Can someone please explain this to me in a more simpler style and why it is used. Thank you.
